Volunteer Opportunities

Here at Hope Southern Indiana, we love our volunteers!

Hope Southern Indiana has the following needs at its Brown-Starks location.

New July 2016

We are looking for a few volunteers to help us with our Dare to Care Pick-ups! At each store you will check the Dare to Care Barrel, talk to the manager for additional donations and bring to Hope! This enables the store to waste less and feed more people in the community through our Food Pantry.

KROGER PICK-UPS 9-10am
3rd Thursday each month-State St, Grantline and Charlestown Rd
4th Thursday each month-Grantline Rd and State Street
5th Thursday each month- State Street

+ Receptionists/Telephone People: A pleasant phone voice and cheerful demeanor will help the person in this position. Our customers need, want and deserve lots of smiles. This position works 1/2 day shifts from 9-12:30 and/or 12:30-4 and usually work one day each week.

+ People who are able to screen applicants and can sometimes say “no”. This position works 1/2 day shifts from 9-12:30 and/or 12:30-4 and usually work one day each week. Typically, people work one day each week, but sometimes they fill in for one another in addition to working their normal shift.

+ Food Pantry Workers: We need stockers, fillers and cleaners. These positions works 1/2 day shifts from 9:30-12:30 and 12:30-3:30. Typically, people work one day each week, but sometimes they fill in for one another in addition to working their normal shift. The cleaner’s schedule is more flexible.

Needs in our surrounding community

3.2.1. Read in Clark County and the Study Buddies program in Floyd County are both looking for volunteer mentors to match up with students for 45 minutes of one-on-one support each week.  The Clark County program works with first graders; Study Buddies with K – 3rd grade.  Clark has 10 schools; Floyd concentrates its work at the Children’s Academy.  Both provide training and require volunteers to submit to a background check. Contact RSVP at 948-1815 or click here for RSVP’s opportunities and enrollment form
